Asst. Prof. Dr.Mohamed Abdullah Daoud

Curriculum Vitae Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Dawood Al-Mallah is currently a lecturer at Al-Noor University College, Mosul, Iraq . He obtained his B.A. in European Languages and Literatures at the Dept. of European Languages, College of Arts, University of Mosul in 1976, his M.A. in Translation & Linguistics at the School of Modern Languages, Bath, UK in 1982, and his Ph.D. in English Language & Linguistics ( Poetic Discourse Analysis ) at the Dept. of English Language, College of Arts, University of Mosul, 2000 . Dr. Al-Mallah's career involves many academic and administrative tasks for more than 40 years including teaching such subjects as Stylistics, Pragmatics, Discourse Analysis, Literary Pragmatics, Semantics, Cognitive Linguistics, Cognitive Semantics, Translation Theories, Translation Criticism & Quality Assessment, Systemic Linguistics, Functional Grammar, English Literature, Narrative Literature, etc. on postgraduate programmes and many subjects on the B.A. programmes. Dr. Al-Mallah has supervised 39 M.A. and Ph.D. theses most of which were awarded with Excellent or V. Good gradings . He has also examined more than 150 postgraduate students in their works . On the administrative level, Dr. Al-Mallah was Head of the Translation Department, College of Arts, University of Mosul for 3 years , Head of The French Department for some months, Head of The English Department at Al-Hadbaa University College -- 2017 through 2019 and was member of the College of Arts Council as well . He was rapporteur of the Translation Department for more than 10 years . He presided over the Scientific Committee and The Committee for Higher Studies at the same department more than once . He was member of other committees more than once : the Committee of Scientific Promotion at the College of Arts, the Committee of Teaching Proficiency -- University of Mosul, the Editorial Board -- Al-Rafidain Quarterly of the College of Arts, He was also member of scientific conferences and symposiums more than once and member of the University of Mosul Creativity Contests Committee for many years . Among still other things, he presided over, or was member of Examination Control throughout his service . Dr. Al-Mallah attended symposiums and sessions on English held at the University of Mosul by scholars from foreign universities and joined a fellowship at the University of Birmingham 2011-- 2012 . Before that, he taught for a semester at the University of Hadhramout, Yemen in 2003 . Dr. Al-Mallah has written 14 research papers during his academic career . His main interests are : writing poems in English and Arabic as well as translating different literary genres, sports , especially football and listening to classical music and songs .
