SDG11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
Cities are centers for ideas, trade, culture, science, production, and social development, playing a crucial role in enabling social and economic integration. To achieve this, support must be mobilized to persuade policymakers to include information access in national and regional development plans.
Achievements of Al-Noor College in the Goal of Sustainable Cities and Communities:
1. A distinguished faculty member from our college participated in a global effort to restore artifacts at the Mosul Museum.
2. Several faculty members donated their books to the central library at the University of Mosul.
3. Field visit to the Central Library building at the University of Mosul.
4. Scientific visit by a group of students to the Museum of Natural History and Biodiversity.
5. Direct support for the Baytna Foundation for Culture and Arts in organizing the "Mosuli Heritage Day" festival.
6. Establishment of the Mosuli Heritage Museum in a traditional Mosuli house, supported by Al-Noor College. The museum was open to visitors for free for a month, also supported by the college.
7. Donation of approximately 100 books in various fields to the central library at the University of Mosul by Dr. Haseeb Elias from the English Department.
8. Under the college’s patronage, the Fifth International Peace Festival was inaugurated in Baghdida/Mosul
9. The college celebrated the Prophet's Birthday with an atmosphere of tolerance and love, attended by many Muslim and Christian religious leaders and city security officials.
10. The college's dean welcomed a delegation from the Union of Writers and Poets in Nineveh.
11. A college delegation visited the Central Public Library in Mosul, donating electronic archiving equipment and modern computers to support the library’s digital transformation project.
12. The college participated in and supported the "Iraq Reads" festival.
13. The college welcomed Watar Academe for nurturing and honing students’ musical talents.
14. Inauguration of Al-Noor Radio from the college.
15. The college hosted a delegation from the Journalists' Syndicate, organizing a seminar on publishing and media issues.
16. Launch of the first tourist bus in Mosul, sponsored by the college, to tour and view the city’s tourist and historical landmarks.
17. The college celebrated the centenary of the death of the mystic musician Mulla Othman Al-Mosuli
18. Under the college’s patronage, a gathering of Mosuli women from various religions was organized, including a commemorative tour of several landmarks such as the Al-Tahera Church and the Grand Mosque.
19. The college hosted the renowned musician Naseer Shamma.
20. The college sponsored the Baytna Foundation's celebration to welcome the holy month of Ramadan in the old district.
21. The college organized a Quran memorization competition.
22. The First Food Festival in Mosul was held under the college's patronage, providing free medical services.
23. A film screening by students and faculty interested in the seventh art was held at the college, followed by a discussion of the film’s events and trajectory.
24. The college, in collaboration with the Baytna Foundation, held the Mosuli Heritage Festival, which lasted for three days.
25. A special evening to honor the young scientist Dr. Moataz Mofaq Suleiman Al-Jubouri was organized through the Baytna Foundation for Culture, Arts, and Heritage.
26. A book fair was held within the college premises.
27. Hosting of a scouting skills course.
28. Participation in the Short Film Festival in Babil Governorate.
29. Organization of a ceremony to honor volunteer teams in Nineveh.
