The University Establishment
Establishment of the University:
In its first appearance in the Nineveh region, Alnoor University initially operated under the name Al-Noor University College, which began its academic journey in 2013 with four scientific departments: Law, Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Arabic Language, and English Language. However, when terrorist groups entered the city, the university relocated to its temporary site in Sheikhan. It remained there until 2017, when it moved to another location in Bartella, with hopes of establishing a permanent campus. Soon, a suitable site was found in Al-Shallalat, where construction began and was completed in 2020. The university then moved to this new campus.
Over time, Al-Noor University expanded, adding new departments such as Dentistry, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Techniques, Dental Prosthetics Techniques, Radiological Techniques, Optics Techniques, Anesthesia Techniques, and Construction Engineering and Project Management. In Al-Shallalat campus, additional departments were established, including Petroleum Engineering, Digital Media, Translation, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence Engineering, and Translation.
On April 1, 2024, with Ministerial Order No. 7565, the college officially transformed into Alnoor University, becoming the first private university in Nineveh. Today, it encompasses seven colleges, supported by administrative and operational units, as well as dental educational clinics and Al-Noor FM Radio.
The university has organized numerous scientific activities, including conferences, seminars, workshops, lectures, and continuing education programs. Notable events include the First Global Conference on Dentistry, the Global Conference on Aviation and Sustainable Development, the three Global English Language Conferences, the Second Global Conference on Medical and Health Sciences, and the Global Conference on Educational Security, among others. Additionally, the university hosts a series of student conferences and runs student forums to discover and enhance the creative skills of its talented students.
Alnoor University also operates a fleet of buses covering parts of Mosul, offering transportation to and from the university, utilizing an electronic payment system as part of its drive to adopt digital technologies. Furthermore, the university is working to establish a clean and sustainable environment.
When Alnoor University College completed its fifth year, it produced the first edition of the College Guide for the 2018-2019 academic year in both Arabic and English, available in both print and electronic versions.

The Symbolic Significance of Alnoor University's Logo
The university has an expressive logo inspired by elements with meanings related to its environment and identity. At the top, there is an arch inspired by the architectural style of Mosul, characterized by high vaulted ceilings. The arch symbolizes a caring hand that provides shelter to the university's students, akin to that of a father. At the apex of the arch sits a graduation cap, indicating that students graduate at the end of their successful studies, having acquired knowledge and reached the pinnacle of academic achievement in higher education.
In the center of the logo is the name of the university in Arabic, written in Diwani script with the logo's distinctive maroon and dark blue colors. Next to the name is a feather whose end resembles a pen tip, representing a clever blend of writing tools throughout history. The feather serves a dual purpose: firstly, as a writing instrument, and secondly, as part of a wing, symbolizing flight. This metaphor suggests that the university soars in the realm of knowledge and sciences.
The pen is positioned vertically to signify the continuity of writing and the ongoing contribution to science and knowledge, nurturing it with discoveries and innovations. The feather also bears the date of the university's establishment, which is noted in both the Hijri and Gregorian calendars.
Additionally, the name of the university is included in English at the base of the logo to indicate that the foundation of the university's work is openness to the world.
An open book rests at the base of the logo, symbolizing a means of learning. The openness of the book signifies the act of learning and its continuity in accordance with the university's approach, as a book must be open to be read. The placement of the book at the base of the logo signifies that students enter the university to open books and acquire knowledge.
