A lecturer at Al-Noor University is the first Iraqi to participate in a global book on universities and sustainable development

The UI Green Metric, a global university ranking organization established in 2008 and encompassing 1,200 universities and institutions based on their efforts to achieve sustainable development goals, has launched a global book project titled:
Universities’ Commitments to Sustainable Development: Experiences form the UI GreenMetric Members
This book was published in collaboration with the esteemed British-German academic publisher Springer Nature.
After Al-Noor University received an invitation to participate in this project, Assistant Lecturer Zainab Ahmed Abdulhamid from the College of Law at the university contributed with a research paper. The paper details the challenges faced by Al-Noor University and the efforts made to respond to the United Nations initiative in this field, highlighting the university's active role in environmental preservation and supporting sustainable development efforts in line with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The participation covered the university’s experience in implementing Sustainable Development Goals on campus and in the community, starting from its establishment and including current and future initiatives. After a process that began in 8, August of the previous year and went through several evaluation and review stages, the paper titled
(Implementing Sustainable Development Goals in Iraqi Universities: Opportunities and Challenges. Facts from Al-Noor University College)
was accepted to be published in the book, where Assistant Lecturer Zainab Ahmed Abdulhamid is the only Iraqi researcher participating in this project. Through her contribution, she aimed to share the university’s experiences in this field and provide a positive image of Al-Noor University and Iraq as a whole.
