Based on the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research regarding the importance of utilizing the summer break for university students in activities that serve civil society and enhance the humanitarian role of universities.
Alnoor University – Student Activities Department / Volunteer Work Unit concluded its field-based voluntary initiative launched under the title “Our Summer is Giving”. The initiative was held over two days, Wednesday and Thursday, August 27–28, 2025, in Wana Subdistrict, Nineveh Governorate, with the attendance of Professor Dr. Munir Al-Badrani, the University’s Scientific Advisor.
During the event, the “Shua’a Al-Noor Voluntary Team” provided various health and community services to the residents of the district,
including eye and dental examinations, blood pressure and blood sugar measurement, as well as blood type testing,
in addition to medical, pharmaceutical, and legal awareness consultations aimed at enhancing the citizens’ health, social, and legal awareness.
The initiative received wide interaction from the residents, who expressed their appreciation for these youth efforts that contributed to meeting their service needs.
The Director of Wana District, Yasser Sheikh Assaf, and the Head of the Citizens Affairs Unit in Wana, Fakhri Mahmoud Hussein, extended their thanks to Alnoor University and its students for this humanitarian initiative,
and both the Principal of Wana First Primary School for Boys, Hassan Saleh Ali, and the Director of Wana Primary Health Care Center, Abdullah Mahmoud Abdullah, expressed their appreciation for the role played by the university in serving the local community.
At the conclusion of the event, Alnoor University honored the aforementioned figures with the University Shield, in recognition of their great cooperation and warm hospitality to the “Shua’a Alnoor” team.
which contributed to the success of the initiative’s activities and the achievement of its humanitarian goals.
The organizers of the initiative affirmed that this experience will serve as a motivation to launch more voluntary initiatives in the future,
enhancing the culture of volunteerism and embodying the true partnership between the university and the community.
