Omeprazole (OPZ) and pantoprazole (PPZ) are both proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) that reduce gastric acid secretion by permanently inhibiting the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme in the gastric parietal cells. Therefore, they are effective in treating conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), gastric ulcers, and Zollinger–Ellison syndrome associated with acid reflux.
