With the contribution of Alnoor University in supporting its activities, the Sixth Abu Tammam Poetry Festival will launch its events on the evening of Thursday, 30/5/2024.
Under the patronage of the Prime Minister, Engineer Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani, and the presence of the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, Professor Dr. Ahmed Fakak, and with the contribution of Alnoor University in supporting its activities, the Sixth Abu Tammam Poetry Festival, dedicated to the esteemed Iraqi writer Muad Al-Jubouri, was launched. The opening included a dramatization of the poet Abu Tammam's character presented by the artist Mohammed Al-Omar. The Minister of Culture, Dr. Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, inaugurated the festival with a valuable speech, followed by the Cultural Advisor to the Prime Minister, the poet Arif Al-Saadi, who delivered an eloquent speech filled with rich literary texts. Then, the Secretary-General of the Union, Omar Al-Saray, gave the speech of the General Union, and the poet Saad Mohammed delivered the speech for the Nineveh Branch of the Union.
The first day's program of the festival included a series of poetry readings by poets such as Walid Al-Sarraf, Yahya Al-Samawi, Mudar Al-Alousi, Emirati poet Mohammed Al-Buraiki, Hazbar Mahmoud, and Lebanese poetess Hanan Farfour. The event concluded with a traditional musical performance by the artist Ramez Al-Rawi.
