The College of Engineering Alnoor University organized a scientific visit to the Qayyarah Refinery on Tuesday, April 22, for second- and third-year students from the Department of Petroleum Engineering.
The visiting delegation was led by Dr. Taha Hussein Ali AL-SalimHead of the Department, accompanied by Dr. Abdaladeem Mahmood Mohamd,Dr. Isam M. Salih Yousif Najar,Dr. MUJAHED A. SAADALLAH
The delegation was received at the refinery entrance by Dr. Azzam Saad Salman, Director of the Refinery, and Dr. Mowafaq Ali Hammadi, Head of a Department at the Refinery.
The visit included a scientific tour of the Refining Department, where students listened to a detailed presentation by Engineer Qusay Ali Issa about the production operations at the refinery, particularly the main production of various types of asphalt. He also explained the production of industrial gas oil used in the operation of certain factories and generators, as well as the production of liquid asphalt (flinkote), which is used as a primer layer in road paving and construction finishing. Additionally, the production of some other light derivatives was discussed.
At the end of the visit, Alnoor University presented plaques of appreciation to both the Director of the Refinery and the Head of Department, as an expression of gratitude for their warm reception and cooperation. Both parties also agreed to strengthen scientific collaboration through the production of joint research projects in the future.
