A ministerial committee visits Alnoor University as part of the Sustainability Competition for Universities.

Out of the Ministry of Higher Education's keenness to adopt the principle of sustainability in higher education institutions in Iraq, it launched the Universities Sustainability Competition and formed specialized teams to inspect universities on-site. A ministerial committee visited Alnoor University on the afternoon of Tuesday, 3 June 2025, to examine how it engages with sustainability, as part of a competition involving four universities in Nineveh Governorate.It is worth noting that Alnoor University adopts sustainability as a consistent principle in its daily practices: it prohibits smoking, uses solar energy, has a medical waste incinerator, recycling equipment, and a shuttle transportation system operating with electronic payment. It also hosts research centers including the Smart Agriculture Center, the Cultural Heritage Preservation Center, and the Sustainable Production Research Center. Additionally, it publishes a peer-reviewed scientific journal focusing on energy and sustainable development research.
