The Noor University Debate Championship concluded successfully, marking a pioneering milestone as the first English-language debate tournament held within an Iraqi university, with the participation of students from various colleges and departments.
The closing ceremony, which took place on Tuesday afternoon, February 17, 2026, witnessed the attendance of Professor Dr. Yassin Taha Al-Hajjar,The President of Alnoor University delivered a speech in which he emphasized the importance of critical thinking, a culture of dialogue, and the role of extracurricular activities in shaping students’ personalities and preparing them to become future leaders. He also attended the final rounds and the closing ceremony. Professor Dr. Ismail Abdulwahhab Ismail Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs,Professor Dr. Khzaal Fahti Zaidan Dean of the College of Education .
And the tournament was organized under the supervision of Lect. Saad Saleh Dheyab Assistant Lecture at College of Engineeringwho pointed out the importance of debates in developing communication skills, analytical thinking, and enhancing student engagement
During the ceremony, the winning team of the championship was honored, alongside the recognition of the top four speakers in appreciation of their outstanding performance and high level of debate skills.
