Students from Alnoor University are introducing a modern electronic system in the central library

Students at Alnoor University continue to showcase outstanding examples of scientific creativity, reflecting their technical skills and abilities, while the university succeeds in nurturing and supporting student talents to benefit the academic environment. In this context, four university students developed a modern electronic system for borrowing books at the central library, based on NFC technology to read the data of users through the ID badges of students, faculty, or staff. The system works by passing the identification badge over a reader, which automatically recognizes the user’s information. Then, the library staff enters the borrowing details into the electronic system, helping to accelerate and precisely organize the borrowing process. The system also allows external users outside the university to use a unified ID, thereby expanding access to the library’s services. Additionally, it facilitates weekly, monthly, and annual inventory operations, while providing accurate statistics on borrowing activity and the number of users. Among the system’s advanced features is the ability to inquire about books via the central library’s AI, enabling students and researchers to quickly access information and available books. This project represents an important step toward developing library services and advancing digital transformation at Alnoor University, highlighting the active role of students in delivering innovative technological solutions that support education and research.
