The Center for Linguistics at Alnoor University examines the similarities between Arabic and the Semitic languages

In the presence of Professor Dr. Ismail Abdulwahhab Ismail The Assistant President of University of Alnoor for Scientific Affairs announced that the Alnoor Center for Linguistics at the university held a workshop on Sunday, 15/3/2026, entitled (Similarities between the Arabic language and the Semitic languages: Hebrew as a model) The workshop was chaired and moderated by Professor Dr. Mohammed Basil Alazzawi, Director of Alnoor Center for Linguistics.
The workshop lecture was delivered by the assistant lecturer Tariq hazim taha, in which he discussed the linguistic similarities between Arabic and the Semitic languages, with a focus on Hebrew as a model for study and comparison. The lecture addressed several important themes, including similarities in morphological structure and the system of triliteral roots, as well as lexical and syntactic correspondences. It also highlighted the shared historical background of the Semitic languages and their development across different periods.
The workshop also witnessed scholarly discussions among the attendees on the importance of comparative linguistic studies in understanding language development and enhancing scientific research in the field of linguistics, due to their role in revealing the historical and cultural relationships between languages and peoples.
This workshop is part of a series of academic activities organized by the Alnoor Center for Linguistics, aiming to support linguistic studies and enhance interest in comparative linguistic research between languages.
