About the University

Establishment of the University:

Alnoor University was a seed planted with sincere aspirations in the land of Nineveh, growing into a private Iraqi university striving for integration with public universities. It overcame difficult circumstances and challenges, emerging in April 2024 as the first private university in Nineveh. Today, it flourishes with remarkable growth, encompassing ten colleges in the medical, health, technical, engineering, administrative, and humanities fields, along with twenty-six academic departments, some of which are unique locally, nationally, and regionally. The university provides its students with well-equipped classrooms and advanced laboratories furnished with state-of-the-art devices and tools necessary for practical education. It also houses dental teaching clinics with 115 dental chairs, where students train while providing free treatment to over 250 patients daily. Emphasizing cultural engagement, the university actively promotes heritage awareness and research through its Department of Archaeological Tourism and the Alnoor Center for Heritage Preservation, along with its annual tradition of celebrating Mosul Heritage Day. Committed to environmental sustainability, the university enforces a no-smoking policy, utilizes solar energy, operates a medical waste incinerator, and implements recycling and afforestation projects. In alignment with digital transformation, Alnoor University has adopted electronic portals and a cashless payment system, including electronic payments for its transport fleet, which facilitates student commutes across Mosul’s neighborhoods and districts via structured routes. The university encourages its faculty members to publish research in Scopus-indexed journals and currently publishes seven peer-reviewed scientific journals, namely: Alnoor Journal for Humanities Alnoor Journal for Medical Sciences Alnoor Journal for Legal Studies Alnoor Journal for Digital Media Studies Alnoor Journal for Information Technology and Cybersecurity Alnoor Journal for Oil and Gas Studies Alnoor Journal for Energy and Sustainability Engineering Its faculty members have published 1,021 research papers in Scopus-indexed journals, with 65% of these papers co-authored with international researchers. The university has approximately 300 Q1-indexed research publications, along with 77 papers published in the world's top 10% of journals and 588 papers indexed in Web of Science. Additionally, Al-Noor University has secured a position in twelve global university rankings, and in the latest Iraqi university rankings, eight of its departments ranked among the top ten nationally. The university has signed numerous agreements with international, regional, and local universities and has initiated postgraduate studies through a collaboration with UTP University in Malaysia, welcoming its first cohort of ten students in Engineering Management. Alnoor University embraces diversity, employing international faculty members and accepting Arab and international students. It also offers an annual scholarship for one foreign or Arab student in each of its departments, in line with the "Study in Iraq" initiative. The university organizes pioneering international conferences both inside and outside Iraq, addressing future-oriented topics, with over 35 conferences held to date, including: The Aviation and Sustainable Development Conference The International Conference on Arabic Narratives The International Conference on English Language Studies The International Conference on Media Integration The International Conference on Medical Sciences (indexed in Elsevier) Additionally, during the 2024-2025 academic year, the university hosted over 150 scientific workshops, seminars, and discussion panels. The Symbolic Significance of Alnoor University's Logo

The university has an expressive logo inspired by elements with meanings related to its environment and identity. At the top, there is an arch inspired by the architectural style of Mosul, characterized by high vaulted ceilings. The arch symbolizes a caring hand that provides shelter to the university's students, akin to that of a father. At the apex of the arch sits a graduation cap, indicating that students graduate at the end of their successful studies, having acquired knowledge and reached the pinnacle of academic achievement in higher education.
In the center of the logo is the name of the university in Arabic, written in Diwani script with the logo's distinctive maroon and dark blue colors. Next to the name is a feather whose end resembles a pen tip, representing a clever blend of writing tools throughout history. The feather serves a dual purpose: firstly, as a writing instrument, and secondly, as part of a wing, symbolizing flight. This metaphor suggests that the university soars in the realm of knowledge and sciences. The pen is positioned vertically to signify the continuity of writing and the ongoing contribution to science and knowledge, nurturing it with discoveries and innovations. The feather also bears the date of the university's establishment, which is noted in both the Hijri and Gregorian calendars.
Additionally, the name of the university is included in English at the base of the logo to indicate that the foundation of the university's work is openness to the world.
An open book rests at the base of the logo, symbolizing a means of learning. The openness of the book signifies the act of learning and its continuity in accordance with the university's approach, as a book must be open to be read. The placement of the book at the base of the logo signifies that students enter the university to open books and acquire knowledge.

Alnoor University Anthem

O Noor, O radiant university,

Rising in our sky, our shining sun!

You shine with knowledge and languages,

Choosing the finest paths of life.

Your fields are labs, your halls are streams,

               Like golden wheat embracing dreams.

                    ******

In every presence, in every gift,

Your halls are filled with endless light.

And "Noor" itself, a glowing sign,

Shining bright in a thriving site.

·

Your walls have stood with noble grace,

With thought, with faith, a guiding place.

Your name soars high in honor’s space,

                                *****

With effort carved, a clearer mark,

A future blooming bright and free.

                 O Noor, O window of hope’s spark,

With all that the new has generously bestowed.

True in word and true in deed!
