Alnoor University held a seminar titled: Sorting Organic Waste and the Importance of Converting It into Soil Amendments
The seminar addressed practical methods for sorting organic waste from other types of waste within the university campus, and highlighted the environmental and agricultural benefits resulting from converting organic waste into natural soil enhancers
The presenters provided an explanation about the stages of the composting process, starting from collecting and sorting the waste, passing through biodegradation processes, and ending with its reuse in improving soil fertility, while emphasizing the role of these practices in reducing the waste sent to landfills and achieving environmental sustainability
The seminar witnessed the participation of a number of faculty members, students, and staff who discussed ways to promote the culture of waste sorting within the university and generalize it as a daily practice
This seminar comes as part of the series of activities organized by Alnoor University in its pursuit to implement sustainable waste management systems and to move towards achieving an environmentally friendly and waste-free campus.
