The Department of Digital Media at Alnoor University organizes an awareness workshop on combating addiction

The Department of Digital Media at College of arts At Alnoor University, on the morning of Tuesday, 23/12/2025, a scientific seminar was held under the title The Digital Space: A Tool of Resistance or a Promoter of Addiction", as part of the university’s efforts to shed light on contemporary issues related to the increasing use of digital technologies and their various impacts on individuals and society
The seminar was supervised by Lecturer Dr. Karam Muzaffar Jasim, a faculty member in the department, and included contributions from several specialists. Assistant Lecturer Ali Osama Al-Rifai from the Sunni Endowment Directorate delivered a paper addressing the religious aspect of combating addiction, while Lecturer Dr. Raed Suleiman Muhammad from the Ministry of Health gave a lecture on the harmful health effects of addiction. Additionally, Colonel Hazem from the Community Police presented on the security aspect of reducing addiction and the role of security institutions in awareness and treatment
The seminar witnessed notable attendance from faculty members and students, featuring discussions and questions that enriched its themes and contributed to deepening awareness of the importance of using the digital space positively while mitigating its risks, particularly regarding the phenomenon of addiction and its various repercussions.
