The delegation from Alnoor University participates in the second day of the Iraq Education Conference 2025 at the University of Baghdad

A delegation from Alnoor University, headed by Professor Dr. Yaseen Taha Alhajjar, President of the University, accompanied by Professor Dr. Ismail Abdulwahab Ismail, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Zuhair Zaidan, Director of Cultural Relations, and a number of department officials, participated in the second day’s events of the iraq Education Conference 2025 which was held on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at the University of Baghdad with wide participation from presidents of Iraqi universities, representatives of international organizations, and academic experts.

The conference program for today addressed a set of main themes aimed at strengthening the position of Iraqi universities in global rankings and supporting pathways for scientific research and academic internationalization.
The first session was dedicated to discussing the universities’ strategy for achieving an active presence in the QS ranking, while the second session addressed the strategy for scientific research in Iraq and the infrastructure and legislative requirements needed to develop the research environment and support researchers.

Participants also discussed the role of legislation in developing higher education and the contributions of international organizations in supporting strategies for the development of Iraqi universities, in addition to a distinguished session on the role of the British Council in the internationalization of education, university capacity building, and enhancing presence in global rankings (Clarivate).
The sessions witnessed fruitful discussions between representatives of Iraqi universities and international experts on mechanisms for enhancing academic performance and ensuring quality in higher education institutions.

On the sidelines of the conference, the delegation from Alnoor University held a number of bilateral meetings with representatives of international institutions and research centers, during which they discussed opportunities for academic cooperation and joint projects that contribute to developing the university’s capacities and enhancing its presence in international ranking and scientific research fields.

The conference is scheduled to conclude tomorrow, Monday, with specialized sessions addressing topics such as science and technology parks, business incubators, the implementation of the Bologna Process in Iraqi universities, as well as the discussion of a proposal to establish an educational free zone accompanied by an analytical study of branches of foreign universities in Iraq.

The convening of this conference comes within the framework of national efforts aimed at developing the system of higher education and scientific research in Iraq, and at establishing the foundations of international cooperation that keeps pace with modern trends in the fields of quality, innovation, and academic ranking.
