Alnoor University honors the Heritage Digitization Team for their local and international achievements and for launching the free application Discover Mosul

In the presence of the President of Alnoor University Prof. Dr. Yaseen Taha Alhajjar, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Alnoor University, Dr. Bashar Mahmoud Ali, and the University’s Assistant President for Scientific Affairs Dr. Ismail Abdulwahhab Ismailand the Scientific Advisor Dr. Munir Salim Albadarani, and the Media Advisor Mr. Thamer Maiouf, and the Director of the Alnoor Center for the Preservation of Iraqi Cultural Heritage Dr. nabil nooraldeen husseinAlnoor University organized a special ceremony to honor the Heritage Digitization Team in recognition of their outstanding local and international achievements The tribute was first and foremost in appreciation of the team’s distinguished participation in the AI Art Gallery exhibition, held as part of the Informatik Festival 2025 in the states of Berlin and Brandenburg, Germany. During the event, the team presented Alnoor University’s first global art exhibition through the Alnoor Center for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage in addition to innovative projects in digitizing Iraqi heritage, virtual tours, and 3D models
The team received wide praise from the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the universities of Potsdam and Brandenburg, and several German institutions concerned with technology and heritage
The honoring also included praise for the team’s achievement in developing the ‘Discover Mosul’ application, which is the first comprehensive digital tourist guide to the city of Mosul that works without the need for an internet connection, and provides verified and interactive content about the city’s most important archaeological, tourist, and recreational sites
The project represents an important step in strengthening the cultural identity of Mosul, revitalizing local tourism, and showcasing the students’ ability to employ technology in the service of heritage and the community
The presidency of Alnoor University affirmed that these achievements represent prominent milestones in the university’s scientific journey and reflect the level of creativity and excellence of its students. It also emphasized its continued support for pioneering initiatives that combine innovation, knowledge, and community service, and that contribute to elevating the university’s standing locally and internationally.
