Alnoor University Faculty Member Publishes a New Book on Modern Literary Criticism

A new book has been published by Assistant Professor Dr. Jassim Khalaf Al-Yasa faculty member in the Department of Arabic Language College of Education , At Alnoor University, a new critical study titled Configurations of the Magical and the Anxiety of Writing has been published, contributing to the field of modern literary criticism. The book comprises seven chapters, in which the author presents a critical analysis of Residents of Doom, a short story collection by the Iraqi writer Thamer Mayouf, Media Advisor at Alnoor University. Through this study, the author explores the aesthetic dimensions of the narrative texts and the artistic mechanisms underpinning their construction, with particular emphasis on the use of magical realism and contemporary narrative writing techniques.
Dr. Jassim Khalaf Elias notes in the book's preface that reading Residents of Doom confronted him with “texts that exercise their narrative seduction through captivating magical realism, breaking free from the confines of the familiar to carve out their own distinctive boundaries through the rhetoric of omission, suggestion, and astonishment,” highlighting the unique narrative experience presented by the author. This publication reflects the ongoing scholarly and cultural vitality of Alnoor University's faculty members and their contributions to enriching the Arab library with rigorous academic and critical works.
